Many people are put off visiting Ibiza as they are convinced it is just nightclubs and young people, however, there is so much more to this popular destination you really could be missing out. If the hotels put you off then why not consider a private villa rental, many of which are set neatly away from any noise and bustle and make a great base from which to explore this beautiful island.
Nightlife v Quiet Days
It is fair to say that this is party central, and if you want to see what it is all about then, you will find the summer months are when the island is swarming in tourist bursting to see some of the best DJ’s in the world who flock to Ibiza to perform their set. However, there is so much more to this gorgeous island that meets the eye. You will also find some of the best and most beautiful beaches with crystal clear waters lapping at their shores, plenty of rural delights far from the beaten track, and a town that has achieved World Heritage status with ancient ramparts and more.
If you head out of town, then you will escape the biggest tourist beach of Playa d’en Bossa and find more hidden gems in the form of Cala Llenya and Aguas Blancas. Both of these beaches have a sandier feel and tend to be quieter and more secluded. Heading to Cala Benirras on a Sunday evening will reward you with the chance to see a bongo session and gatherings of VW Beetles as the hippy community gathers for this weekly delight. If you like walking and exploring you can head off on foot to the cove of Cala Xuclar which is relatively unspoiled and boast stunning views as the sun goes down. Rent a sunbed for 5 euros and enjoy this pebbled nirvana surrounded by pine trees.
Whether you fancy a look at the boutiques of Ibiza town or prefer the idea of wandering lazily through the hippy markets of Las Dalias and Punta Arabi, you will love the myriad of colours as you browse locally produced items. In the boutique sector, you will find high-end fashion, jewellery and more. Indeed, plenty to spend your euros on.
Take a Boat
Another must do attraction of Ibiza are the boat charters. Feel free to walk on past the party cruises; we are talking about exploring the inlets and beaches around the island by boat. Charter prices are reasonable, and you can find some peaceful escapes. Smart Charter Ibiza also offers a range of water-based sports with jet skis and other toys available to hire.
A great way to spend the evening, this show will set you back 70 euros and includes one drink. Here you can see an entertaining and slightly camp performance that is both fun and somewhat odd all at the same time, but it is a traditional part of the island life, so when in Rome, or this case Ibiza, you might want to try.
